This year, our annual training day took us to the beautiful Hotel Märthof in Basel. Early in the morning on April 1, 2022, in wintry temperatures, we boarded our trains at various stations. Once we arrived, we were able to fortify ourselves with coffee and croissants in the "Jakob Meyer von Hasen" conference room on the 6th floor before our coach, Frank Schellenberg (@stepsandmilestones.ch), introduced us to the topic of the day: "Agile self-management".
According to the dictionary, the word "agile" means agile, lively and nimble. In our fast-moving world, but also after two years of corona, we are and have been challenged as individuals, but also as a team, and must be able to react agilely to the respective situations at all times.
For us as catering planners, it is also a principle NOT to think and plan in a cumbersome and inflexible way.
The various stages of the workshop were run through partly in plenary sessions and partly in small groups and gave us interesting and enlightening insights into different ways of working and thinking. We will integrate these insights into our day-to-day work with great enthusiasm and thus ensure that we remain agile and nimble as a team.
As we were able to accompany the Hotel Märthof in the planning and realization as gastronomy planners, it was of course a special pleasure to enjoy the excellent lunch in the Bohemia restaurant and to receive a complete guided tour in the late afternoon, expertly accompanied by Ms. Bojana Krüger. It is enriching for us as a team to be able to visit a project we have planned and to see the work we have done in reality. The good occupancy rate and the positive feedback from the guest restaurant team gave us the confirmation we needed.
